What is Yoga?

Yoga is the union of the mind, body and breath. Yoga brings everything together as one so your whole being can grow stronger, wiser and more peaceful.  Once we train the physical body through asanas (poses) and teach ourselves how to properly breathe, only then can we truly change our minds.

“A further meaning of the the word yoga is, “to attain what was previously unattainable.” The starting point for this thought is that there is something that we are today unable to do; when we find the means for bringing that desire into action, that step is yoga. In fact every change is yoga. For example, when we find a way to bend the body forward and touch our toes, or learn the meaning of the word yoga with the help of a text, or gain more understanding of ourselves or others through a discussion, we have reached a point where we have never been before. Each of these movements and changes is yoga.”

“The yogic journey guides us from our periphery, the body, to the center of our being, the soul.”

Why I Teach

I’m more concerned with your mental space than your physical body.

We all have parts of ourselves that we want to work on, that we want to heal, strengthen, and make better. Yes, we can do that just by working the outside of ourselves but its not until we get into our minds and our souls that we actually grow. That is what I want to help you with. The asanas (physical postures) will guide the mind into a place of peace and a nice side effect is a strong, lithe, and healthy body.

I have practiced and taught yoga for the past 15 years and I know that all people are different. Whether you are a body builder, have a chronic illness, or you are a stay at home mom- YOGA IS FOR YOU.
